Avoid the following areas!
Posted on October 25, 2011 by Gustav Müller on Suidlanders website

Protest action at Luthuli house earlier this year indicated that the ANCYL makes use of violence to demand attention. The ANCYL supporters made use of burning tires to barricade roads and burned ANC t-shirts during that protest. Police had to use rubber bullets and water cannons to control the violent crowd that pelted them with stones. The crowd also attacked journalists who were on the scene, accusing them of writing negative stories about Malema. Violent behaviour and vandalism is expected! Previous protests by the ANCYL at Luthuli house resulted in the closure of various banks and other businesses in the area.

Possible road closures

ANCYL comrades are gathering (Beyers Naude Sqaure) at 10:00, the march to the Chamber of mines will then start.

The distance is approximately 300m. From there they will start traveling to the JSE.

The distance to travel from the Chamber of Mines (JHB CBD) to the JSE Building (Sandton) is between 15km and 18km. From the JSE, then to the Union buildings in Pretoria!

The M1/N1 route to the Union Buildings is expected to be closed for the commuting period, although Malema vowed to block the M1/N1 between Pretoria and Johannesburg this week! The aim is to bring the country to a stand-still. (Main roads between Johannesburg and Pretoria should be avoided).
