AWB Stormvalke's members with Eugene Terre'BlancheIn southern Africa, around the end of 1979, a group of young supporters of the AWB (Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging, Afrikaner Resistance Movement), all motorcycle enthusiasts, decided to create an unofficial motorcycle club. They decided on the name “Stormvalke” (Storm Falcons) and their first appearance was in 1980, for an official AWB function during the celebrations for the Day of the Vow. At that time they weren’t a symbol that could identify them, and they were generally reported by the media as “bikers”.
After their first appearance, the Stormvalke decided to organize themselves officially. They founded a club organic to the movement, with its symbol (below).
