Flag of the New Republic
The flag is a reworking of the “Four-colour” (Vierkleur).
The Nieuwe Republiek (New Republic) was founded on August 5, 1884. Its territories were granted to the Boers came from the districts of Utrecht and Vryheid, as a reward for having fought alongside the Zulu King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo, against a his rival.
Vryheid was the capital of the Republic.
On 20 July 1888 the New Republic entered on the Boer Republic of the ZAR.
